Getting to Capri

Below is how we recommend you get to Capri. If you just have to see for yourself, like Catherine would have to, the diagram at the bottom shows you all possible routes and check out Capri's guide.

Step 1: Flying to Italy

The closest airport to Capri is Naples Capodichio Airport.  Alternatively, you can fly into Rome Fiumicino Airport and take the train (either Italo or Trenitalia) for a 70 minute ride from Central Rome (either Termini or Tiburtina station) to Naples Centrale station. Use Rail Europe to figure out what train you'd like to take but purchase the ticket on the rail service provider's website so you aren't charged a service fee.

*Don't forget to check that your passport is up to date!

Step 2: Sailing to Capri

Once you arrive in Naples, whether by air or train (or car), you will need to be taken to Molo Beverello port to catch a high speed ferry for a quick 45 minute boat ride to Capri.  A taxi from Capodichio to the port should be ~20 euro; a taxi from Centrale to the port should be 10 euro.  In either case, ask how much the ride will cost before you get in unless the driver is willing to turn on the meter. High speed ferries leave approximately every half hour in the summer. You can purchase your ferry ticket in advance online or when you get to the port. You can also catch a ferry from Sorrento, Amalfi, Ischia, Positano or Salerno if you are already on the Amalfi Coast.

Step 3: Almost there...Getting up to Capri Center

When you arrive at Marina Grande in Capri, you should be met by your hotel's porter (or you can pay a porter) who will take your luggage to your hotel. You will then either take the funicolare (1,80 euro pp; located right across the street from the port gates) or a taxi (ranges from 15-20 euro depending on number of people) up to the center of Capri (assuming you're staying in Capri, which we recommend, as opposed to Anacapri). Either option takes about 5 minutes. Cars are not allowed in the main town so once you arrive at the main Piazzetta you will take a stroll to your hotel.

Please let us know your travel schedule on the RSVP page.

*If you is fancy and don't want to be among the common folk, you can always get to Capri by helicopter. If you're taking this option, please let us know so we can catch a ride.
